How Is Satin Different from Sateen?

Satin is an elegant fabric with a wide range of applications and shares many characteristics with sateen. What distinguishes satin from other materials is its characteristic weave, known as a satin weave. Every fabric consists of a warp and a weft, and this also applies to satin and sateen. Satin fabric is defined by this specific weave, in which one set of threads completely covers the other. When the weft threads cover the warp, the result is sateen. When the warp threads cover the weft, the result is satin.
